MEDICAL UNIT 3

Medical unit III was inaugurated in year 2002. It is a unique ward as male and female patients are admitted under one roof in separate rooms. The unit is completely temperature controlled. A total of seventy six (76) beds are available in medical unit III. These are divided equally between male and female portion. Four (04) beds are reserved for female psychiatry patients and four (04) beds for female skins patients. Sixteen (16) beds are dedicated for TB ward. TB ward is further divided into eight (08) female beds and eight (08) male beds. In TB ward patients are looked after in respiratory isolation. Medical unit III has four (04) beds as high dependency unit which is well equipped with bedside monitoring, central oxygen supply and suction system.

There are two weekly OPD and admission days. Every 3rd Sunday is also admission day. Approximately two hundred and eighty (280) patients are admitted each month in medical unit III.

Hemo-dialysis department is also part of the medical unit III. It is equipped with eight (08) dialysis machines of latest model. Three hemodialysis machines are marked for HCV positive patients. There are eight (08) beds in dialysis room and approximately two hundred and seventy (270) hemodialysis sessions are done by highly professional staff every month.

HOD

This unit headed by Dr. Shahid Saleem MBBS, FCPS Consultant In charge Medical Unit III. The other clinicians include Dr. Muhammed Jahangir (MBBS, FCPS) a senior, experienced and highly professional medical specialist and Dr. Mirza Muhammad Masood Anwar (SMO); another very experienced clinician.

Patients are also looked after by a team of junior doctors including 05 post graduate trainees and 06 House officers. A reasonable number of trained nursing staff is also available round the clock to look-after the admitted patients.
